When I was only 21 years old, it was the fall of 2021. During the summer, I drove through the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, traversing many uninhabited areas and magnificent landscapes. In the fall, I rented a place outside the school. I was still struggling to learn machine learning, struggling to read papers and reproduce other people’s work about Transformer, never having produced any innovative work of my own. I often wandered around the campus in the fall, and, couldn’t find an internship.

Now, my intern, only 21 years old, has successfully trained many innovative multimodal large models and helped me complete numerous challenging tasks. In this process, he has also witnessed the absurdity of the world and the complexity of human nature.

Society is a chaotic arena where innovation and monopoly compete. Competition, plagiarism, land-grabbing, internal strife. Poor top-level design, rigid hierarchical reporting lines, large teams with internal conflicts and small teams with internal conflicts, infrastructure that reduces work efficiency by 10x.
